# Managing backups (/docs/backups/managing-backups)

## Back up now [#back-up-now]

Click **Backup now** on the **Databases** page or on a database's page to run a backup outside the schedule. Any member of the workspace can start one.

- Manual backups count toward a daily limit per database: 12 on Starter and 48 on Pro, over a rolling 24 hours. Past it you'll see _Starter allows 12 manual backups per database per day_.
- Only one backup of a database runs at a time. If one is already running or queued, you'll see _A backup of production is already running_ or _already queued_.
- Manual backups are marked **Manual** with the name of the person who started them.

## Cancel a backup [#cancel-a-backup]

While a backup is queued or running, click **Cancel** on its page or next to **Backup now**. Nothing is stored for a cancelled backup, and it is marked **Cancelled**.

## Find backup files [#find-backup-files]

- **Storage** lists backup files from every database, in one folder per database.
- A database's **Backups** tab lists that database's backups.
- **Activity** shows backup runs, restore tests and changes people made, as they happen.
- **Analytics** charts backup runs, data written, backup duration and storage by engine.

Each backup's page shows its stored and uncompressed size, duration, who started it, how it is encrypted, its **Backup ID** and checksum, the tables it contains, its restore test and every restore made from it.

## Delete a backup [#delete-a-backup]

Owners and admins can delete a backup from its page with the trash icon, then **Delete backup**. The backup, its encrypted file in backupd Storage and its restore history are deleted for good. This can't be undone.

You can't delete a backup that is still running, or one that a restore is using.

Copies in [your own bucket](/docs/storage/destinations) are not deleted.
